Beneath the Surface | Artists have been selected!
We put the call out this month for interested participants for our residency in Fundy National Park – Beneath the Surface. We are thrilled to have 20 artists who will be attending, and creating work inspired by the wilds of Fundy. We’re not ready to release the full list just yet. Stay tuned to find out!

ArtsNB | Application Deadlines
ArtsNB has two grants coming up with application deadlines on April 1st.
Creation Grant
The Creation Grant program is designed to provide assistance to professional New Brunswick artists for the research, development and execution of original projects in the arts. Creation Grants are intended to allow artists to devote some or most of their time to research and creative production.
Documentation Grant
The Documentation Grant Program is designed to provide assistance to New Brunswick arts professionals and professional artists for the research, development, and execution of original documentation and contextualization (written, film, video, multimedia) of arts activities, arts products or art history. Documentation grants are intended to foster theoretical and critical discourse in the arts. Preference will be given to proposals concerning New Brunswick art or artists.
Midas Well Creations | the Penny Gallery
Juried member Kennedy McKeen of Midas Well Creations has an exhibition in the Penny Gallery at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre until April 11th. Kennedy’s work is incredible, and if you haven’t yet had a chance to check it out, we highly suggest that you do!
Andrew & Laura McCain Gallery | Hiring a Summer Student
The Andrew & Laura McCain Gallery is hiring a Summer Student. Do you know someone who fits the bill?
This position includes assisting the director at the gallery and teaching art camps at the River Art Centre, with another summer student. The art education responsibilities include the planning, preparation and instruction of weekly art camps in partnership with a second summer employee. Being mentored by an art educator for 10 days of training and support is part of this position, so Education and or Visual Art students are encouraged to apply. Requirements: Must enjoy children, outgoing, responsible, resourceful, effective communicator, have leadership and organizational skill, art appreciation and a willingness to learn. Administrative gallery responsibilities include reception, answering & returning calls, copying, promoting the exhibitions and artists, offer tourist information, registration for programming and events, art sales, social media support, development of promotional material, gallery installations, artwork management, filing, email, and other tasks.
Saidye Bronfman Award | Winner Brigitte Clavette
Honorary Member, Brigitte Clavette, has been named this year’s Saidye Bronfman Award winner.
« Brigitte Clavette is a master of her craft, a thoughtful mentor and this year’s recipient of the prestigious Saidye Bronfman Award. Brigitte joins an amazing assembly of recipients of the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts, celebrating her skill in metalsmithing and community building.
Inclusivity, direct training and encouragement is the trademark of Brigitte’s 40-year career. She is one of Canada’s foremost artists in silversmithing and an elected member of the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts (2000), recipient of the Excellence Award for High Achievement in the Arts (2002) and the Strathbutler (2006), New Brunswick’s highest awards. These accomplishments reflect Brigitte’s conceptual and technical innovations in fine craft and are an acclamation to her generosity to lead while advocating for others to succeed. » – Canadian Craft Federation

Festival de Noël 2022 | Êtes-vous inscrit?
Membres sélectionnés − Vous pouvez vous inscrire dès maintenant pour obtenir un stand à notre Festival de Noël en décembre. Date Limites pour subventions: le 1ere Avril, 2022
CRÉATION
Le programme de subvention à la création offre une aide aux artistes professionnels du Nouveau- Brunswick pour la recherche et l’exécution de projets originaux dans les arts. Les subventions sont conçues pour permettre aux artistes de consacrer une plus grande partie de leur temps à la recherche et à la création artistique.
DOCUMENTATION
Le Programme de documentation offre une aide aux professionnels des arts et aux artistes professionnels du Nouveau-Brunswick pour la recherche, le développement et la création de matériel original de documentation et de mise en contexte (écrit, film vidéo, multimédia) de l’activité, la production ou l’histoire artistique du Nouveau-Brunswick. Les subventions à la documentation visent le support du discours théorique et critique des arts. La priorité sera accordée aux projets traitant de sujets néo-brunswickois.

Andrew & Laura McCain Gallery | Embauche d’un étudiant ou une étudiante cet été
La galerie Andrew & Laura McCain embauche un étudiant ou une étudiante cet été. Connaissez-vous quelqu’un qui pourrait se porter candidat?
Ce poste consiste à assister la directrice de la galerie et à enseigner des camps d’art au River Art Centre, en collaboration avec un autre étudiant embauché pour l’été. Les responsabilités en matière d’éducation artistique, assumées avec un deuxième employé d’été, comprennent : la planification, la préparation et l’enseignement de camps d’art hebdomadaires. Il y aura pour la candidate ou le candidat retenu une formation et un soutien d’une dizaine de jours dispensé par un mentor en enseignement des arts. Les étudiants en éducation ou en arts visuels sont donc encouragés à postuler. Exigences : aimer les enfants, être extraverti, responsable, débrouillard, savoir communiquer efficacement, avoir des compétences en matière de leadership et d’organisation, apprécier l’art et avoir envie d’apprendre. Au nombre des responsabilités administratives à la galerie, notons : assurer l’accueil à la réception, répondre au téléphone, faire des copies ainsi que faire la promotion des expositions et des artistes, offrir des informations touristiques, s’occuper des inscriptions aux programmes et aux activités, procéder à la vente d’œuvres d’art, fournir un soutien aux médias sociaux, développer du matériel promotionnel, travailler aux installations de la galerie, assurer la gestion des œuvres d’art, faire du classement, rédiger des courriers électroniques et accomplir d’autres tâches.
Prix Saidye-Bronfman | La gagnante est Brigitte Clavette
Notre membre honoraire Brigitte Clavette est la récipiendaire du prix Saidye-Bronfman de cette année.
« Mentor attentionnée, Brigitte Clavette est passée maître de son art et elle est la récipiendaire de cette année du prestigieux prix Saidye-Bronfman. Brigitte Clavette joint ainsi les rangs sélects des récipiendaires du Prix du Gouverneur général en arts visuels et en arts médiatiques, prix qui souligne ses talents d’orfèvre et de bâtisseuse communautaire.
L’inclusion, la formation directe et l’encouragement, voilà autant de qualités qui caractérisent la carrière de 40 ans de Brigitte Clavette dans les métiers d’art. Elle est parmi les plus grandes artistes canadiennes en orfèvrerie et elle est membre élue de l’Académie royale des arts du Canada (2000). En 2002, elle a reçu le Prix d’excellence pour réalisations exceptionnelles dans les arts du Nouveau-Brunswick et, en 2006, le prix Strathbutler, la plus haute distinction dans le domaine des arts au Nouveau-Brunswick. Ces récompenses viennent souligner les innovations conceptuelles et techniques de Brigitte Clavette dans le domaine des métiers d’art et constituent une reconnaissance de son leadership généreux par lequel elle aide les autres à réussir. » Fédération canadienne des métiers d’art
