2020 Christmas Pop-Up

Making the best out of the pandemic restrictions: a pop-up at CreatedHere Magazine’s store-front location

When the 2020 festivals were canceled, we turned our attention to new ways we could help our members offset their losses within the limitations of the covid restrictions.

Taking a festival to retail

We were lucky to have an incredible group of artists involved with this project, who helped making the transition from our usual Christmas Festival to a retail location, seamless.  Those involved in the pop-up were:

Ann Filmore, Darcy Hunter, Dawn Merritt, Bob Hunter, Anne Stillwell-LeBlanc, Megan MacKinley, Alevtina Sharapova, Lois MacDonald Layden, Renata Britez, Karen LeBlanc, Grace Nickerson, Maria Guevera, Nick Brown, Dodo Leather, Sylvette Fortin, Ashley Brown, Debbie Payne, Ashley Anne Clark, Monique Bujold Brown, Grace Nickerson, Patty Goodine, Sharon Riley, William Robinson, Tara Battram, I-Chun Jenkins, and Kate White.

The location

This was made possible by countless volunteer hours from members, staff and the  board or Craft NB, as well as the generous donation of space from Created Here Magazine who, at the time, had a storefront location on Queen Street in Fredericton. 27 craftspeople were involved

“The pop-up was a great opportunity to bring artists together and reach a new audience. It was an absolute joy to be apart of the the downtown community and work alongside so much talent within Craft NB.”

We had the artists do Instagram takeovers every Monday, which helped shoppers get to know the artists, and get a glimpse into their work and what they had to offer at the pop-up.  We ran a gift basket giveaway with work from many of the artists involved, which was a huge hit.
