As of April 24th, New Brunswick’s Premier, Blaine Higgs announced that large public gatherings such as festivals and concerts are prohibited through December 31st, 2020. This means both of our festivals (Summer and Christmas) are officially cancelled. Vendors will receive full refunds momentarily.

Atlantic Vernacular, the 2020-21 biennale exhibition has also been officially postponed until 2021. This means that we are also shifting the Beneath the Surface residency + exhibition to the next year.

Our spring/summer jury session is also being cancelled. Our next jury session will be in the fall 2020.

Prior to COVID-19 restrictions set back in March, Craft NB had plans to move our offices downtown to a more public location, with shared studios and a retail space. This plan is now being put on the backburner for the time being, but with plans to realize these dreams in the future once the dust has settled. As we had already given notice on our current office space, we have decided that as an organization, Craft NB will continue to work remotely until the end of 2020 when we will reassess our physical space needs moving forward.

We are devastated by these changes but the safety and wellbeing of our community members, staff and partners is priority. These unprecedented times have caused us to pivot our regular operations and programming to a digital/virtual platform to continue working:

  • Our biggest priority at this time is to improve the benefits of all our members. We will be reassessing our membership benefits (survey to be released) and find areas that we can improve on
  • Updating and improving the functionality of our website
  • One of our biggest goals is to provide online selling opportunities to our Juried Members. We are working towards a bigger online selling platform in lieu of a physical festival for 2020. More details to come.
  • We aim to expand to do more online events and programs, such as workshops. etc — both for the public and for our members.
  • More frequent sharing of creative, craft and arts content on social media.
  • We want to work, and collaborate with other arts and creative organizations and businesses!

We greatly appreciate your patience  and cooperation at this time. Craft NB is a small team who works hard to provide valuable content to our members and the greater craft community in New Brunswick.
