Craft NB is a member-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in crafts, maintaining standards of craftsmanship, and expanding markets for fine crafts. We aim to unite, inspire and champion excellence in craft by creating opportunities for makers and audiences.
We are currently looking for two Summer Student, an Assistant project manager and a Research and Archive Officer, see below for more information.
Assistant project manager
Terms of Employment: Full time, 8 weeks, daytime, $11/hour
Start Date: June 19th

Job Description:
Craft NB is looking to hire a creative and driven individual as Assistant project manager. Get to know the inner-workings of a non-profit organization, gain valuable office & arts administration skills, experience working in a professional, fast-paced environment, support fine craft and the cultural sector in New Brunswick, and have fun in a dynamic position!
Responsibilities include:
- Providing assistance with the organization of the Fredericton Fine Craft Festival
- Being present at Fine Craft Festival to assist in set-up, admissions, and aiding in the overall success of these events
- Help organize kids programming and interactive art workshops
- Help with the dissemination of promotional and marketing material in both official languages.
- Providing general reception and completing basic administration tasks, liaising with members and the public
- Maintain office supplies and equipment and perform weekly housekeeping duties
Requirements:
- Microsoft Office skills essential
- Self-motivated
- Highly organized and effective at multi-tasking and juggling multiple deadlines
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and as a team
- Own transportation
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Must have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year
- Must intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year
- Must be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial regulations
Assets:
- Bilingual (written and spoken proficiency in English and French)
- Customer service experience
- WordPress experience
- A genuine interest in the craft sector or a career in arts administration

Research and Archive Officer

The student will be working with both the provincial organization, Craft NB, and its national counterpart, the Canadian Craft Federation. This position will involve both provincial and federal craft related work. Get to know the inner-workings of a non-profit organization, gain valuable office & arts administration skills, experience working in a professional, fast-paced environment, support fine craft and the cultural sector in New Brunswick and across Canada.
Responsibilities include:
- Archiving historical documents
- Documenting/photographing the permanent collection
- Creating and conducting a survey of national craft organizations
- Researching and updating a national craft directory
- Being present at Craft NB’s Fine Craft Festival to assist in set-up, admissions, and aiding in the overall success of these events
- Help with the dissemination of promotional and marketing material
Requirements:

- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and as a team

Terms of Employment: 8 Weeks, starting approximately May 22nd, 2017, $11/hrPosition Title: Communications Coordinator & Graphic Designer
Location: Fredericton, New Brunswick
Job Description:
The Canadian Crafts Federation is seeking a student intern in communications and graphic design to work on national projects. Applicants must have keen writing, editing and design skills including knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator. The position will focus on online communications (including website maintenance & development, blog updates, e-news production and online content expansion), social media activity, audience development and event marketing, document layout and graphic design.
Join our team to learn about national and provincial craft organizations and how they run. In our friendly and flexible environment, you’ll be able to put your education to work for you, gaining valuable experience while learning new skills.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a full time college or university level program in Fine Craft, Studio Art, Graphic Design, Art Administration, Communications or a related field.
- Working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop, and experience with online and web based tools for research and communication.
- Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
- Applicants must be Canadian residents between 15 – 30 years of age, returning to school full time in September 2017.
